Clothes, College and Lush Haul

Saturday, 8 November 2014

So I have figured out one problem with college is that it is in town, my metro I get goes through the centre of town where all the shops are and on a Friday I finish college early at 2:35pm and since I don’t get to go home at around 5pm, I decide to go into town and have a look around and of course this leads to spending money. So over the last few weeks this is what I have bought.

So I’m going to start with clothing as I have only bought one clothing item, which was from H&M and is a knitted jumper which is black and grey striped and I bought the medium sized jumper which makes it look oversized and I can say it’s one of the comfiest things I own I wore it to college last week and it was nice to wear, plus I’m a fan of sweater paws so I love to do that with my jumpers and it’s just getting me into the mood of winter really and this jumper was £12.99.

Moving away from clothes I’m going to start with a bath item I’ve bought that isn’t from Lush, a lot of people, or the majority of people will have heard that Zoe Sugg has released her beauty range (Zoella Beauty) which is all bath related items, I recently found out the Superdrug in Newcastle sells her range, so I went a head and bought the fizz bar which was £5.

I also of course had to pop into Lush especially since it’s been redecorated and all changed around, which lead to me spending way more than I would have liked to. The first thing I bought was the Brightside Bubble bar, which was £4.75. The bubble bar itself has a very citrus smell and it’s very strong, it does smell fruity and it makes the bath a red, slightly orange and creates a lot of bubbles.

Also from Lush I bought the bath bomb Granny Takes A Dip which was £3.35 and I love this bath bomb I did originally cut it into four completely forgetting it was a bath bomb ( I thought it was a bubble bar haha) and I used a quarter of it and I thought it was really nice and it still made my bath all colourful and pretty but of course if I used the entire thing then it would have been much more colourful, but I think a quarter is actually enough for one bath.

Since this haul has been over the last month or so I went into Lush whilst they had the Halloween collection and I think they may still have a few things in, but I went in and bought the sparkly pumkin and when I say sparkly it is very sparkly, I picked it up and basically I walked out covered in glitter, it’s been a few weeks now and I’m still finding glitter on my leather jacket and in my mam’s car! Anyway this one is such an autumnal scent, it’s basically a comforting, warm smell it will instantly make you feel cosy! This has to be my favourite one I’ve ever bought, even though it’s just a bubble bar it’s the semll that makes it my favourite. I love autumn so having an autumn scented bath it’s amazing especially after a long day of college and I’m trying to wind down and this was £3.50.

And the final thing I bought from Lush was from their Christmas collection and that is the Candy Mountain, I couldn’t resist I felt the urge to get something related to Christmas since when I had gone in they had just put their collection out, and that one was the one that stood out because it’s so sweet, it’s literally a bubble bar that has the scent of sweets or snow fairy, it’s great If you love sweet scents but it is quite strong and I think it can be a bit overpowering.

I also popped into Superdrug as I needed some hair spray and once again I ended up getting the same hair spray as what I had bought last time which is the Got 2 Be 2 sexy big volume push up hairspray    and I got it on special for £1 something I can’t remember the exact price as this was three weeks ago I bought it and I know I’m late with this post but I thought I needed to let it build up for the things I’ve bought so I could make this post anyway Superdrug had this special on and I was in need for some hair spray and I love this hair spray (and may I add it smells incredible) so I bought it.

Also from superdrug I bought the Schwarzkopf live colour XXL Hair Dye in Raspberry rebel 91, this was £4 and it was quite a spontaneous buy I wanted to do something different with my hair so I bought this, the colour is like a redish pink it is a red toned pink I’d say and it was only a semi permanent dye and I dyed it  two weeks ago almost three and it’s literally all out now but I can’t seem to find a colour like it that’s permanent, do any of you know where to buy a permanent dye in this kind of colour? If so can you let me know in the comments But it was really cool to dye my hair that colour it was something very different and something I don’t usually do and I’m willing to do it again.

I then went to Rymans it's a stationary shop  and bought three oxford notebooks which have 150 pages in and they’re just the books with pages that rip out and flip over I got three for under £10 I paid between £6 and £7 for the three of them.

I also remembered that just before half term my bag broke so I also had to buy a new one, I went with a vans backpack as they’re big bags and I can fit my necessary things in there whilst still having a lot of space in there, plus it’s a big enough bag to fit my laptop in. I bought this one on amazon for £34 as I couldn’t get it off the proper Vans website as they took it off  the website., but it was cheaper from amazon than the actual website as on the website it should have been £40.

The final thing that I bought which was college related is this book, it’s called The History Boys and It’s a play by Alex Bennett and I was meant to read it for my English Lit as this is the new topic I’m starting and I may have started to read it once and I got up to page 38 and kind of stopped reading it and I was meant to have finished it by now oops! Anyway this book is about this group of boys in sixth form and they all take history and they’re trying to get into oxford university ( I think) It’s quite a good book and I enjoyed the film to it and from what I’ve read in the book it seems quite goo and this was about £7.

And the final thing I bought was Beauty related and was from Asda and it’s a Rimmel London Apocalypse Lip Lacquer  in the colour Big Bang and this is just a bright red lacquer and it’s like my other two I own which is in the colour Nova and Apocalypse, it’s like a stain and lasts for a good few hours and it does take a while to dry but once dry it will last for two maybe three hours. I paid £4.50 for it on a deal, but these are usually around £6 plus for one.

So this was my haul over the last month or so I have had to buy a few college related items but I thought I’d include them in case you were curious also i am sorry that i did use photos from the internet, but i did forget to photograph the Lush stuff i bought and i have used it and i also used the dye so i threw the box away and about the hair dye if anyone knows if there is a permanent colour that is similar to the one I used could you let me know I’d like to dip dye my hair pink again but I would like it to last longer. Anyway I hope you enjoyed this post and I’ll post again soon.

What's In My Bag / School Edition

Saturday, 25 October 2014

So I've recently started college, well a few months ago and I'm shocked about how fast these last few weeks have gone and I've realised compared to my bag I used to take when I was in high school I have changed a lot of things and I carry so much more in my bag so my bag is from urban outfitters and is a backpack which cost me £10 in their sale and this is what I carry inside.

So I'm going to start with my notebook, I have this NU notebook which has split sections. I picked their notebook because I have 4 subjects and the book itself has 5 split sections and since I don't have a bit bag it's much easier to carry around instead of five separate books.

I also Carry 4 pens with me two are just simple plain pens whilst the other one is a one with four colours (it comes in handy with English lit for analysing the poems) I also harry one highlighter around (once again for English lit or to highlight key words in my notebook. I don't actually own a pencil case as I really don't like them especially when I carry my purse and make up bag I have no room so these tend to lie in the bottom of my bag.

Also in my bag I carry my make up bag which usually consists of a broken hair brush (I'm hoping by the end of the year to get a tangle teaser.) I carry some hand sanitiser which was from primark for 60p.i carry my real techniques powder brush, maybelline the falsies mascara my Rimmel stay matte powder and my maybelline baby lips intense car, collection cover up stick and the lipstick/ lipgloss I wear that day which this particular day I wore my topshop lipstick in the colour beguiled. Also in my makeup bag I carry painkillers and sometimes cold relief tablets.

Since I'm travelling further to school I carry my purse which of course consists of money for my dinner and travel and a little bit of my own money in case I want to go into town after I finish on my early days.  i got this purse from newlook for £9.99.

( i got the picture from Newlook website as i couldn't get a decent picture of the purse, sorry)

I also carry my juice cube (from John Lewis it cost £25 if you were wondering) which is a charger for my phone and at the moment my phone battery I broken so my phone is dying by around lunch time. So I need to be able to charge it. Anyways you charge it like you would a phone and the cable it comes with you change the end to fit your device so at the moment the end for mine is for an iPhone 4s. This little thing is such a life saver, I recommend these if you travel around a lot or if your out all day and your phone doesn't keep a charge.

I also carry a bottle of water with me because I've found out recently that I drink a lot of water up at college so I have a 720 ml water bottle.

I also carry an umbrella I case of any bad weather. I also carry my student ID in my bag so I make sure I have it there with me, I usually clip this onto the draw string around the top to make sure I know where it is and have it to easily access as I need it out as I carry my pop card (it's like an Oyster card for the train but the Newcastle version) and I use that to pay for my ticket on the train.

And the final thing I carry in my bag is my iPad mini as there's some days I have massive breaks such as a Tuesday where I have two hours free, plus free wifi and I sometimes need to do homework or some research so it's quite handy to have or of course just to play games on whilst I'm on the metro.

So this was my what's in my school bag post I hope you enjoyed it and I'll post again shortly

Reflecting on Life

Saturday, 7 June 2014

So I'm trying something different this week I've been having some interesting thoughts about life in general and I feel like I need to share my views on life.

Life? What is life? Most things have a life, Plants, Animals and humans we all have life, seed are planted, they grow into plants and die, animals grow up and live a life where they, eat, sleep, run, hunt, mate, etc.. Whilst our lives are completely different. We’re born, we learn, we grow, we develop, we make friends, we laugh, play, go out, get a job, fall in love, get married, start a family and we grow again until we die.

Our lives are funny, everyone is different and everyone’s life is different. Some people have better lives than others, whilst others are more successful, or other people fall in love quicker than others. Everyone is different and I’ve recently realised how funny life is.

I’m still in school I’m a week away from finishing which is pretty terrifying I’m doing all of my exams and soon I’ll get my result and that’s it, it’s up to me what I decide to do I’m in charge of my life, I’m in control. everything I do is my choice and my choices determine my life, so do I go to college? Uni? Or get a job (I know terrifying thoughts.) Anyways I’ve realised how different our lives change whilst we grow up and go through first school, middle school and high school. You see each other develop, you see people change for better or for worse and you see people mature.

You go through this period of time with so many people who you have grew up with from the beginning or met along the way. I never even talked to half of the people in my year until this year and I have actually realised that I should have talked to a lot of them sooner as they would have made me a more outgoing person and in a way I regret not getting closer to them earlier, but I can’t help that and In a way I don’t care. I mean the people in my life now are the ones I hope to keep.

I honestly can’t wait to finish school and I can’t wait to leave a lot of people because in a way a lot of them don’t mean anything to me, as harsh as that sounds but I believe you only need a few friends to help you through because they are going to be the ones who care about you most and not some random girl or boy from your class who you barely know or may talk to on a rare occasion.

But on the other hand I will miss a lot of these people because I’ve grew up with them I have seen them from small children like myself grow into a teenager and I’ve seen people through both their worst and best times, I’ve seen people fight and fall out and make up in minutes.

I do wish I got to know a lot of them better but I couldn’t have asked for better people to grow up with especially in high school, a lot of these people were brilliant and kind but others weren’t but I don’t care about the people who I didn’t like or they didn’t like me. But I can’t wait to see what happens to the people who actually put effort into school and their exams.

In a way I’m ready to leave school and move on and actually start my life, but I’m also terrified it’s a big step and it can be quite nerve racking but I can’t wait to go off to college and meet new people and start my adventure of life, I hope to travel to some great places and document it whilst hopefully doing something in journalism or fashion/ beauty or maybe even photography who knows?

But life is a mystery we can’t predict our own futures only time will tell and until then we have to make the most of live and enjoy it whilst we can, so whether it’s traveling somewhere or meeting new people. Make the most of it and just carry on what you love doing. You may as well live life to the fullest as everything else is uncertain, but it’s true don’t let the little things get you down, just do the things you love don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise just do it.

It’s your life and you’re in control so the decisions you make effect your life so you make them don’t let anyone else have a say in it and if you love something do more of it, it makes you happy and that’s all that matters,

Six Form, College, University or Work?

Saturday, 12 April 2014

So it’s that time of year where a lot of people are revising and about to do their exams in a few weeks including me, and the one thing I'm constantly being asked is what are your plans after you finish school? And in honesty I'm still not sure I don't know what kind of job I want. Do I want to be a journalist? A writer? Photographer? I have no idea and a lot of you are probably the same. Your probably being asked the exact same questions and you're being pressured in answering this question but in  you're just hoping to pass your final exams first and all I want to say is it’s ok not to know, there’s a lot of opportunities out there and it’s quite overwhelming.

You have so many opportunities do you go to six form? College? University? Or do you go straight out there and get an apprenticeships or a job? It’s confusing but all I’m going to say is do what’s best for you. If you're not ready to finish school go to a college or a six form and that gives you plenty of time to figure out what kind of job you want to do whilst widening your education variety.

I still don't know what I want to do after I finish and that’s about two months away. The only thing I have decided is that  I'm going to go to six form and I’m going to take English Language, English Literature and Photography (i'm still debating about photography) because English is my best subject and photography is a hobby that I want to learn about. Plus you never know it may just be something that I could get into after I finish school. I honestly don't know but I say it’s ok not to know we're still young and there’s plenty of time to figure it all out.

So don’t stress about something that’s still quite a while away, plus the more you think about it the more you’ll get worked up over it and that won't help you figure it out, there will be a day where you’ll figure out what you want to do but until that day comes just try to stay calm and focus on your exams and finishing school,

Emma
