The Body Shop Instablur Review

Sunday, 15 March 2015

So recently i bought the Body Shop Instablur primer as i've heard a lot of good things about it and i got a 35% off online and decided i'd buy that along with the Body Shop All In One BB Cream and to start with my first impression was that i loved the packaging i loved the little bubble with 'instablur' in it and i was very excited to use it. i've used it quite a bit and i love this stuff. i've never used a primer before this one, but i did have a sample of the Maybelline Baby skin and after using the sample i really didn't like it, it literally felt like silicon so i was a little worried that this one would be very similar. But i actually love this stuff you can't feel it on your skin and it takes all shine away from your face and you can apply your make up straight after.

The Body Shops website description for the product claims that the primer is...

- Shine controlling for 12 hours
- Reduces the appearance of pores
- Hides blemishes
- Complexion hiding
- Makes your make up last longer

I would definitely say that the product does all of that, last week i had quite a bad week with my spots and i used the primer and my friends and i were talking and i complained about my spots and having an annoying red one under my eyebrow and she told me that she couldn't see it, i didn't use any concealer on the spot just the primer then my foundation (Bourjois Healthy Mix) and after using it more times it definitely blurs spots and blemishes which i absolutely love!  i haven't tested the shine control thing but it lasts during my day even though i don't have very oily skin i do sometimes get some shine a little on my forehead and chin but not very often.

and for extending the length of my make up i'd say that is very true i use this especially on my days where i'm out all day or finish college late so i'm wearing make up from 6:30am to about 6pm and when i use this i find that my make up is in very good condition and that i don't need to re-do any of my make up throughout the day apart from my lipstick.

i do love this primer a lot and i think it's one of the best ones i have used and i think that i won't be moving on from this for a long time you can get this either in store or online at The Body Shop for £14.

Have any of you tried this primer? if you have what do you think of it?

July Favourites

Saturday, 2 August 2014

So it’s once again that time where it’s the end of the month and I share some of my favourites with you guys so I'm going to start with one of my favourite TV shows at the moment which is Orange is the new black. It’s a Netflix original TV show and I've heard so much hype over the show from youtubers, friends and from social network sites like twitter that thought I'd have to check it out, which I did and I can say the first episode I wasn't very keen I watched it and I was like oh ok. But as I watched the next episode I got hooked it’s quite an odd show that I've never really watched before but it’s pretty humorous.

My next favourite is teen wolf this has been one of my favourites for a two years now. It’s my all time favourite tv show. So of course when season four started I was ecstatic and once again I am hooked like I have been with every season since I first started to watch it. Plus since Season 3 the show has become much more dark and mysterious so that has me even more excited.

My first beauty / skincare favourite has to be the Lush ultrabalnd cleanser. Now I think I’ve hyped on about this for the last few blog posts that it’s been involved in and it is now my favourite cleanser to use! it takes make up off effortlessly and as Lush use mostly natural ingredients it is very good for your skin. It’s also designed to remove all makeup and dirt without damaging your skin. I also did a review here.

My second product is the Lush impereialis moisturiser. Now I didn't buy the proper product I got a sample of it and I love this moisturiser. I went in the shop asking one of the workers about moisturisers and this is the one she recommended. It’s meant for skin that can't make up it’s mind. So it’s good for both oily and dry skin. The product itself is basic it’s a moisturiser that can be used for both night times and day times (I prefer using it in the morning before I apply makeup) and it dries very quick but leaves your skin moisturised.

My next favourite is my only fashion favourite of the month is my Raybans. I love these sunglasses since I bought them last year, but since the sun is out at the moment in Britain they have gone everywhere I have. I rarely leave the house without them.

And my final favourite is the metcalfe’s skinny topcorn sweet ‘n salt popcorn this popcorn was recommended by my friend Katherine when we went to see the fault in our stars last month the popcorn comes in small bags and each bag contains 75 calories and it’s all natural ingredients in the bag and their small portions making it the perfect size for a small snake or to chuck in your bag to take with you on the go.

So these were my favourites for this month July. I can’t believe how fast this month has gone it’s now only 19 days until I get my results back and have some decisions to make, but what were your favourites for the month?

My Everyday Makeup Products

Saturday, 12 July 2014

Today I thought I'd share the products I use on an everyday bases for my make up. My make up is pretty basic and natural so I don’t use many products and I never do much eye make up apart from a bit of eyeliner and mascara. Anyway here are some of the products I use everyday.

Revlon Nearly Naked foundation

Maybelline Falsies mascara

Collection eyeliner pencil
(sorry i didn't get a photo)

MUA Cover and conceal concealer

Rimmel stay matte powder

MUA Bronzer

Maybelline Baby lips Hydrate

I do use a lipstick but this often changes but the one I’ve been using the most is the Revlon colour burst matte balm

I use the two brushes Real Techniques powder brush and the Real Techniques face expert brush to apply my powder and foundation and for my bronzer I use an Avon angled blush brush to apply that.

So these are the products I use everyday or have done for the last few months,

The Summer tag

Saturday, 21 June 2014

1.What’s your favourite thing about summer?
My favourite thing about the summer has to be the longer days and the vibes you get from the weather. I love how in the summer everyone let’s loose and becomes carefree. Everyone has fun and you end up doing loads of cool, crazy adventurous things.

2.Do you have a favourite summer Drink?
I don’t have a particular drink but I do love to have refreshing drinks, I like smoothies or just a cool water for hotter days. To keep you refreshed and hydrated.

3.Is there a location you like to go each summer?
Of course it’ll have to be the beach every year for the last 3 years, I think I’ve gone to the beach at least 4-5 times.

4.Favoruite make up look for the summer?
I like to have quite simple and natural make up so I usually will just wear a bit of concealer, powder to set it and mascara with a natural lipstick or lip gloss.

5. Dresses or Skirts?
Neither. I don’t like skirts or dresses I’m not that type of girl I prefer to wear shorts or three quarter jeans.

6.Sandals or Ballet pumps?
Sandals. I love wearing sandals in the summer I think they’re much nicer and lighter on very hot days but they’re not as practical as ballet pumps. I think you have a limit of where you can wear sandals.

7. Do you prefer to wear your hair up or down for the summer?
I’m not very adventurous with my hair so I usually just straighten it and keep it down, but you never know I might experiment this year and might venture out and wear my hair up.

8. Deep Smokey eyes or bold lips?
For make up I can never apply eyes shadows or create nice effects so the smoky eyes is out of the question I prefer bold lips, because they add a pop of colour and kind of fit in with the vibe of summer.

10. Favourite music for the summer?
For the summer I love upbeat songs so I usually go for pop songs and basically whatever is in the charts but One Direction always make their way into my summer playlist.

So this was the summer tag which I found from Make up and beauty blog if you haven’t read that then I’ll link it here and feel free to use these questions and make your own answers up.

Lip Product tag

Saturday, 14 June 2014

1.What is your favourite balm or treatment?
Without a doubt my favourite balm has to be the Maybelline baby lips, this is just my favourite balm it’s perfect it has a nice range to choose from and they’re very hydrating. I usually use them on a daily bases for school and they keep my lips hydrated for along time and for the price they’re cheap and affordable.

2. What is your favourite eye catching red?
Rimmel apocalypse lip lacquer big bang (400) I’m a big fan of the rimmel apocalypse lip laquers, they leave a bright, bold, stunning colour on your lips. I love the look these leave. i have never owned a red lipstick but this is defiantly the one I want to get.

3. The best luxury and drugstore product?
I have no Idea what the best luxury drugstore product Is I never tend to go for the luxury stuff and I’ve never bought anything that’s luxury but I’m going to say mac without a doubt mac are the best you’ll get. My favourite drugstore product will have to be the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks I currently own one of these in the colour 16 and I love it, they’re around £5- £6 I think but they’re really good and last quite a long time plus you have a large range to choose from and either a matte lipstick or the normal lipstick.

4. Best MAC lipstick?
The dazzle glass for me is the best lip product you can get (I haven’t tried any other lipsticks from mac yet) they’re not too sticky and they’re have some great colours. The colour I have in this is the colour dark crimson and this is a neutral colour, but once it hits the light it is amazing the product basically is what the name is it dazzles when it hits the lights, it’s super glossy.

 5. Most disappointing lip product?
I’m going to say the topshop lipsticks, now I do love the colours from the topshop range and they’re not bad price but I got the lipstick in the colour Beguiled and I do love this colour but I’m disappointed at how the finish is. It makes your lips look very dry. i know it can be easily solved but if you use a lip balm before the product won’t go on as easy. So yeah after all they hype I had heard it defiantly wasn’t as good as I expected.

6. Lipliner : yes or no? no I don’t like using a liner I don’t find it any useful, I just find that it adds extra time in the morning and doesn’t make a difference.

7. Favourite gloss?
My favourite gloss is the mac dazzle glass in the colour Dark Crimson like I mentioned earlier it’s really nice on the lips and it’s very glossy and this colour especially is very subtle and very neutral.

8. ..Something else?!

I’m going to say that the something else that didn’t fit into this quiz is the Revlon colourburst  matte balm. this product has to be my new favourite ever since they came out I have fell in love the colour I have is 205 Elusive and I love this I have wore it throughout march/april and may and I generally love it. it’s very moisturising and it’s a matte finish which looks gorgeous and it actually lasts about two hours before needing to be reapplied. And did I mention that it smells like peppermint? It’s really nice.

(sorry about the darkness of the photo)
